Why This Works

Investors are pattern-matching for signal. This format lets them scan in 30 seconds and respond to specific asks. The honesty about challenges builds trust.

Subject: [Company] March Update: [One Headline Metric]

Opening (2 sentences max): State your top win and your top challenge. No preamble.

Example: “Hit $180K MRR this month (+12% MoM). Still struggling to close enterprise pilots — conversion rate stuck at 15%.”

Metrics Table:

What’s Working (3 bullets max):

What’s Not Working (2 bullets max):

  • Specific challenge + what you’re trying
  • Specific challenge + what you’re trying

Asks (1-2 max): Be specific. “Intros to construction tech buyers” not “help with sales.”

Closing: One line on what you’re focused on next month.
